MOSUL
Population 664,200

The river Tigris passes through Mosul, the communication and business center of the north, situated 400 kms. from
Baghdad; it can be reached by road, rail, and air. On the left bank of the river are the ruins of NINVEH (the most famous
capital of the Assyrians). The main attraction in visiting Mosul are the Museum, the Old Al Nuri Mosque with its leaning
minaret, the 13th century palace of Qara Sarai, some of its churches and monasteries, the old Bazaar.
Mosul is called "The City with the two Springs Season" because of its exceptionally fine climate. An annual spring festival
is held in April.
